Whether you've never played a hand, need a refresher on the rules, or you're tired of being laughed at for reneging, Spades 101: No More Reneging is the perfect place to build your confidence at the card table.

Offered through Diaspora University, this four-week interactive course is designed to teach the fundamentals of one of the most beloved card games in Black culture. Under the guidance of instructor our Executive Director, Sharon Jones, participants will learn the rules, terminology, strategy, table etiquette, and unwritten customs that make Spades more than just a game—it's a tradition.

By the end of the course, you'll be ready to confidently join a game at a family cookout, holiday gathering, or DSC game night.

Playing with a partner

Terms every Spades player should know
How to avoid common beginner mistakes—including reneging!
